Recently I discovered that Lagavulin 16 appears in the movie Miss Sloane.
The movie is about the high-stakes world of political power-brokers, where Elizabeth Sloane – played by Jessica Chastain – is the most sought after and formidable lobbyist in D.C. She is a ruthless and powerfull winner, which makes perfect sense for a scotch brand to associate itself with. Good for them.
In the scene, Jessica Chastain takes out a bottle from her office closet to enjoy a victory.
Lagavulin 16 is also associated with Nick Offerman, who claims to have this favorite of mine as a favorite himself and appeared in several marketing stunts with it: Parks & Recreation, Lagavulin commercials and even as a ‘Yule log’ video inspired by the cat-video ‘Lil BUB’s Yule LOG’.
Suntory and Lost in Translation
Another well-known whisky product placement was Suntory in Lost in Translation featuring Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson, where Bill had to shoot a whisky commercial for Suntory.
Suntory reported that the inclusion of their whisky got their brand internationally known.
